What a great show! Met loads of great people and learnt loads about my own art by seeing the amazing talent all around me.

Under the title of ‘HAZARDOUS WASTE’ the Grafik Warfare artists transformed the gallery space into a toxic waste dump incorporating artwork from all artists in the crew including original canvas pieces, limited edition prints, black book sketches as well as boundary pushing mediums and installations typically associated with this unique crew.

• 10:30 am-8pm: Outdoor live-painting session, including wall graffiti and collective work on moulded statue to be auctioned to our guests. All proceeds to Haiti charity. Celebration of Sinna’s birthday.

Sunday 28^th February

• 10:30 am-6:30pm: open to the public.

Grafik Warfare is an international collective of street artists and illustrators. To celebrate the launch of their new website www.grafikwarfare.co.uk the whole collective are exhibiting for the first time at the Graffik London Gallery, 284 Portobello Rd, London (www.graffiklondon.co.uk).

Downright Excellent Case Study

“To break it down, Help a London Child awarded Downright Excellent with a £2,100.00 grant in order to provide Ocupational Therapy for Children with Down’s Syndrome who have Sensory Processing Difficulties. The grant paid for an Occupational therapist for 3 hours/Week for 10 weeks between April and July 2009.

Here’s what the Downright Excellent had to say about the grant…

“95.8 Capital FM’s Help a London Child (HALC) has kindly enabled Downright Excellent to employ an Occupational Therapist too help children in London age 0-4 with Down’s Syndrome with their sensory processing issues. This means any difficulties with using the information that they from hearing, touch, taste, sight and smell, as well as movement. For example a child who cannot tollerate certain textures may have difficulties feeding. A child who seeks constant sensory input may find it hard to sit still and learn from out speech and language programme.

Last year HALC brought us a photocopier and laminator so we can create homework packs for our students and outreach packs for those unable to attend regularly.” Lucy Newham, Chair

White Hart Lane Tennis Club, Haringey

Thanks to help from people like yourselves, Help a London Child have been able to support children’s clubs such as the White Hart Lane Tennis Club.

The club is situated in a highly deprived and disadvantaged area of London and runs low cost tennis classes and gained new skills, friends and valuable experiences.

A reminder where your money goes…

Whitgift SNAP is a registered charity that provides annual two-week summer schemes for up to 220 disabled children and yound people from the London Borough of Croyden. The schemes are supported by over 260 volunteers and 24 staff, using facilities provided by Whitgift School.

The Crodile Scheme, for children and young people aged between 5 and 18 years, provides a wide range of sporting and leisure activities during the school holidays, in a safe and stimulating environment. With help from donations to 95.8 Capital FM’s Help a London Child have funded many outings and activities for the enjoyment of the young people attending schemes, providing opportunities for leaning and enhancing their confidence and self-esteem.

A trial run for a new canvas series. Just a little gift to Martin. Will develop this a little bit over the coming months and try get a some Free Art in Action and maybe some for sale to Help a London Child.
